Construction work is progressing steadily at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) Renewable Energy Industrial Park in Gora, Nasarawa State, as the Federal Government moves to boost local production of renewable energy technologies and address Nigeria’s power challenges.

The 40-hectare industrial park, designed as a multi-energy hub, is expected to support domestic manufacturing of renewable energy components such as solar panels, mounting racks, wind systems and biomass technologies, thereby reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported equipment.

Speaking during an inspection visit to the project site on March 31, 2026, the Special Adviser to the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI on Renewable Energy and Project Manager for the Gora facility, Engr. Suyud Abdullahi Muhammad, said the initiative is part of efforts to strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure and reduce capital flight.

According to him, the project is structured to broaden Nigeria’s renewable energy capabilities beyond solar power alone.

“There will be a wind assembly plant, small hydro power equipment production, and solar panel manufacturing. Renewable energy goes beyond just solar, and this park reflects that broader vision,” he said.

Muhammad explained that the project aligns with NASENI’s broader goal of tackling energy poverty in Nigeria, where more than 80 million people remain without access to electricity, while many connected to the national grid continue to experience unstable power supply.

He noted that the industrial park would play a key role in expanding energy access by encouraging local production of renewable technologies that can support off-grid and alternative power solutions.

Beyond addressing energy deficits, the project is also expected to contribute significantly to economic development through job
