The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the postponement of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco 16, 2026, following consultations with FIFA and other key stakeholders involved in organising the tournament.

The continental governing body said the rescheduling was necessary to guarantee the smooth execution of WAFCON 2026 in light of “unexpected challenges.”

The official statement reads: “In October 2024, CAF granted the hosting rights for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 to Morocco. The tournament was initially scheduled for 17 March to 3 April 2026. After consultations with FIFA and other partners, CAF has decided to reschedule the competition to 25 July – 16 August 2026 to ensure the success of this important women’s event.”

CAF added that preparations for the tournament are ongoing and expressed confidence that WAFCON 2026 will be a highly successful competition.

“This new schedule will allow all stakeholders to fully prepare and ensure that the tournament meets the high standards expected of Africa’s flagship women’s football event,” the statement added.
