Aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Reno Omokri has hit back at President Muhammadu Buhari for suggesting that former president Olusegun Obasanjo is not patriotic for criticising him in an open letter over growing insecurity in the country.
Buhari had while meeting with his campaign organization at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, said that those criticising him lacked a sense of patriotism, as according to him, he is doing his best for the country.

But Omokri insisted that Buhari should not be talking about patriotism, when according to him, he destroyed democracy twice in Nigeria through coups.
“Obasanjo restored democracy in Nigeria TWICE. General Muhammadu Buhari destroyed democracy in Nigeria TWICE,” Omokri wrote on his twitter handle @renoomokri.
“Once by overthrowing the democratically elected government of Shehu Shagari. Secondly as an accomplice of Abacha. Between him and Obj, who should talk of patriotism?” he queried.
Omokri noted that Obasanjo remained the most “detribalised” former president and that it is hypocrisy on the part of Buhari to accuse him of not being patriotic.
“No other leader has been as detribalised as former President Obasanjo. Now General Muhammadu Buhari accuses him of not being patriotic. How rich, coming from a man who appointed Northern Muslim men to head all 10 law enforcement and intelligence agencies. What a HYPOCRITE.”
