Asanike urges Oyo APC leaders to build on state congress success ahead of 2027

Prince Asanike Asatola

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and governorship aspirant, Prince Asanike Asatola, has called on party leaders to build on the success of the recently concluded state congress to position the party for victory in the 2027 general elections.

Asanike urged the party to take advantage of the unity and peaceful conduct that characterised the election of the new state chairman, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, and other members of the state executive to strengthen the party ahead of the next electoral cycle.

In a statement issued through his media office in Ibadan, Asanike noted that the rancour-free conduct of the ward, local government and state congresses showed that reconciliation within the party had yielded positive results.

He therefore called on party members to sustain the atmosphere of unity to ensure the party’s success in the 2027 elections.

Asanike, a grandson of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Yusuf Oloyede Asanike, and a former senatorial aspirant in Oyo State, commended party leaders, stakeholders and members for demonstrating a strong spirit of unity, noting that the development signals a renewed drive toward victory in future elections.

The philanthropist and farmer described the emergence of the former deputy governor, Adeyemo, as state chairman as a step in the right direction, adding that it had opened a new chapter in the history of the APC in Oyo State.

According to him, Adeyemo’s experience as deputy governor under the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi, and his long-standing loyalty to the progressive movement would be invaluable in repositioning the party for greater cohesion and electoral strength.

“As a party chieftain and aspirant who is deeply committed to the growth and success of the APC in Oyo State, I warmly congratulate our leader, His Excellency, Moses Alake Adeyemo, on this well-deserved elevation,” Asanike said.

Prince Asanike, an economist and former president of the NADECO Youth Wing in Oyo State during the pro-democracy struggle, also urged the new leadership of the party to initiate programmes that reflect progressive ideals and attract members from other political parties.

The governorship aspirant maintained that with Adeyemo’s leadership, the APC in Oyo State could return to the level of influence it enjoyed during the administrations of the late Lam Adesina and Abiola Ajimobi.

He also commended the immediate past state chairman of the party, Olaide Abass, for laying the foundation upon which the new executive would build.
