The historic event was one that for a long time will be talked about in Amuro kingdom, a massive community which comprises of seven town- Orokere, Takete-Ide, Aiyeteju, Oroke, Aiyede, Otafun and Okagi.

The coronation last week of the new Alamuro of Amuro kingdom, Mopamuro local government, Kogi State, His Royal Majesty Oba Gilbert Aiyedogbon, a distinguished Engineer witnessed a lot of fanfare, pomp and pageantry . It was double joy for the monarch, being the fourth Alamuro, and the first to be upgraded into the hallowed pantheon of First Class cadre.

If there was any one eminently fitted for the leading traditional stool of Amuro land, it’s no other than Engineer Aiyedogbon, a successful and highly influential indigene who has for years been passionate about the development of Amuro land.

But as the case would be, it’s just not possible for the new king to drive the development of his kingdom alone, the occupant of the reverred stool has traditionally been assisted by the Alamuro -in- council. Among the leading citizens and non indigenes that were appointed into the council during the coronation of His Royal Majesty are Chief Patrick Obajemu, who was installed as Balogun of Amuro kingdom, an important title that makes him the right hand man of the new Alamuro. Obajemu is expected to draw on his rich contact and wide experience as well as his passion for the land to make impactful contributions to useful decisions at the Alamuro -in- council going forward.

The highlights of the grand occasion was the crowning and beading of (Engr) Alfred Modupe Aiyedogbon, as well as the Conferment of Traditional titles on Hon Eric Fiki, as the ‘Baale of Amuro’; and Chief Patrick Obajemu, as the Balogun of Amuro Kingdom.

In a chat with Business Hallmark, the new Balogun thanked the immediate former governor of Kogi and the current governor for the upgrade of the traditional stool and former giving appointments to Amuro indigenes. He also commended the new Alamuro, ” saying Oba Aiyedogbon is a blessing to our community.”

In his remarks at the occasion, the Chairman Organising Committee, Commodore Michael Folusho Daniel rtd (MFD), said the event was an occasion for joy for Amuro indigenes , given that the stool of Alamuro has been upgraded to First Class status making the occupant first class monarch.

Daniel, who was honoured with a Chieftaincy title as the Akingbade of Amuro, said the coronation of a First Class Oba Alamuro, was not merely a ceremonial act but a sacred tradition thay stands for the unity, strength and continuity of Amuro community.

The former Kogi State Governor is credited with elevation of the Alamuro stool to First Class shortly before he exited power.

The new Alamuro and Balogun in separate statements appealed to Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo to give a befitting rehabilitation to the roads linking the seven communities that make up Amuro land.
