Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has charged the newly installed Olu of Mowe, Oba Yaya Oriyomi, to spearhead efforts aimed at attracting investment and accelerating development in the community.
The governor gave the charge during the installation and presentation of the staff of office to the monarch in Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area.
Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting industrial growth capable of drawing high-value investments for the benefit of residents across the state.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, the governor urged the new monarch to mobilise his subjects to partner actively with the government by taking ownership of development initiatives in their community.
He also advised the traditional ruler to adopt an inclusive leadership style, stressing the importance of carrying all stakeholders along without discrimination, while remaining accessible, receptive and responsive to the needs of the people.
“I enjoin the people of Mowe to accord the new Kabiyesi the respect, support and cooperation required to move the town forward, as collective effort is needed to accelerate development across all sectors of the community’s traditional, social and economic life,” he said.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Obafemi/Owode Local Government, Hon. Lanre Ogunsola, commended the governor for approving the installation of the monarch, describing it as a demonstration of foresight and leadership.
He urged the new Olu to lead with wisdom and fairness, expressing confidence that his reign would usher in peace, growth and development in Mowe and beyond.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Oriyomi expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun and the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Adedotun Gbadebo, for the trust placed in him.
He pledged to prioritise the development of Mowe, assuring that his reign would deliver meaningful progress for the community and contribute to the overall advancement of Ogun State.
