Lagos lawmaker charges youth on skill development
A lawmaker representing Mushin Constituency 11 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Olayiwola Olawale, has called on the youth to exploit and develop their skills and talents for personal and national development
Olawale, speaking at the second edition of the periodic football competition tagged “Omititi Unity Cup” in Mushin, Lagos, charged the youth of the constituency to exploit their talents in sporting activities and eschew social vices, as opportunities for them to excel abound.
“I will want our youths to exploit their talents in sporting activities and eschew social vices because more opportunities are opened for them”, said Olawale
The lawmaker explained that sports have become part of strategic means through which youth can explore to earn living for themselves and their family.
“Talents abound in my constituency that is why I am engaging them in sporting activities that are viable, football scouts and philanthropists are here to scout for talents fit for greater feats.
I am also set to come up with a foundation tagged ‘Layi Olawale Foundation’, which will see to the economic progress of the constituent.”
He urged the people in the constituency to key into the strategy which is targeted at uplifting the status of youths and others for better Mushin.
The final match was played by two teams representing ward E, kitted in green jersey and ward I, wearing white jersey.
The match, which was played at the Bishop Aggey’s Secondary School open field, ended in a goalless draw and was decided through a penalty shoot-out.
Ward E emerged winner of the football tournament, beating ward I, 7- 6.
The Unity Cup was also sponsored by Winning Bet Game owned by Chief Babatunde Obasa and Bet9ja owned by Hon. Kunle Soname.
An All Progressive Congress (APC) local government chairmanship aspirant in Mushin, Hon. Ishola Karaole, who spoke with newsmen, explained that he is in the chairmanship race to better the lot of the people, adding that he has the advantage over other aspirants in the party because of his past experience having served at various lower capacities before.
“I have the opportunity of clinching the party ticket because of my past experience in politics and administration when compared with my contenders. I am qualified for the job because of my years of experience in council administrative roles, a lot of people can testify to it”, said Karaole, adding “If I am elected chairman, I will address four issues, these include; health, unemployment, road network problem and security”
